Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions. That's normal.

Here's what parents want to know before getting started.

Question 1: Is The Parent Strategy tutoring or academic support?

No. The Parent Strategy is not a tutoring service. We help parents figure out why their high schooler is struggling before deciding what kind of support is actually needed. Sometimes the answer is academic. Sometimes it isn't. Our focus is identifying the root cause and creating a strategy based on what your teenager actually needs.

Question 2: What if I have no idea what's causing my teenager's grades to slip?

That's exactly where we start. You aren't expected to arrive with the answer. Through the Root-Cause Method™, we look at the academic, behavioral, social, motivational, and other factors that may be contributing to the change. The goal is to stop guessing and start understanding what's really going on.

Question 3: Will you work directly with my teenager?

The Parent Strategy is designed primarily to work with the parent. You know your teenager better than anyone, and you're the person who can create meaningful change at home and advocate effectively with the school. Depending on the situation, your strategy may include conversations with your teenager, changes at home, communication with the school, or referrals for additional support when appropriate.

Question 4: What if the problem is bigger than grades?

Then we need to know that. A slipping grade can sometimes be the first visible sign that something else is happening. If we identify an issue that requires specialized support beyond our scope, we'll tell you. The goal isn't to pretend we can solve everything. It's to help you understand what you're dealing with and determine the right next step.
